Composed of polished granite, this new Altar replaced the first one which cracked during the fire in 1986. To express our faith that God our Father will share with us the Resurrection of the body which He first gave to Jesus, and to show that Jesus already begins to nourish us for eternal life by giving us his Body and Blood from this holy Altar; relics (particles of bone) of our patron saints were placed in an opening in the Altar table when it was consecrated with the church on October 13, 1996. Our primary patron saint is St. Thomas à Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury and Martyr; our secondary patrons are: St. Aloysius, St. Marguerite Bourgeoys and St. Marguerite d'Youville.
