Sculpted from wood, this 4-foot crucifix was blackened by the heat and smoke of the church fire in 1986. It was cleaned but not completely restored; so that it would not be completely ruined. More fragile than before, it is a good reminder that we, the Body of Christ, are wounded by sin and damaged by the fiery trials of life - we too are fragile, but the tender Mercy of God lifts us up and restores us to Eternal Life by attracting us to Jesus' Way of Love - just as the Crucified Lord attracts every eye that enters the church.

On the right is the original crucifix as it hung above the altar before the fire.
